Studio Fotografico Bacci is run by Barbara and Federico, who photograph every wedding as a pair. They founded the wedding studio in 2012 and work from Pontassieve, a short drive east of Florence. The Bacci name is older: Federico has written that his grandfather opened the business as a family photography shop in 1951, and in an interview with CanvasRebel he described himself as the third generation of wedding photographers, after his grandfather and his mother. Barbara came to photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, through a film course.
Their starting point is documentary. Most of the day is photographed as it happens, with no traditional posing, and they say they look for a series of pictures that tells the whole day rather than isolated frames. When the light or the architecture is right, they slow things down for a few minutes and make something more composed, then step back again. They name Pre-Raphaelite painting, cinema, Pictorialism and twentieth-century film photography as influences, and their galleries move between warm colour, black and white and scanned film.
“A wedding gallery should not look like the same photograph repeated hundreds of times.”

Two photographers are part of the standard service; for very small weddings they suggest one, so the day stays intimate. Before the wedding they work with the planner and other suppliers on the timeline. Couples can add an engagement session, coverage of a welcome dinner or farewell event, a film photography service, an extra photographer for weddings of more than 150 guests, a content creator, or fast delivery in one week. They do not make films, and are happy to recommend videographers.
Tuscany is home ground, from Florence, Artimino and Mezzomonte to Cortona and the Val d'Orcia, and their journal also covers weddings in Umbria, in Friuli at Castello di Spessa, in Sorrento and in Calabria, as well as Paris. Their site has pages for New York, San Francisco, Maine, London, Lanzarote, the Dolomites, Rome and Lake Como, and their About page counts weddings in 11 states. They take a limited number of weddings each year (25 on their FAQ, 30 on their contact page).
A preview of around 15 photographs usually arrives 48 to 72 hours after the wedding, and the full online gallery of edited pictures follows 45 to 60 days later. Rangefinder named them among its 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography in December 2020. They also teach, running workshops and mentoring for other photographers.
