Il Giorno Perfetto is the studio of Glenda Marradi, a wedding planner and designer working from Poveromo in Massa, on the stretch of Tuscan coast between Versilia and the Ligurian border. She founded it in 2005 and now has more than twenty years of weddings behind her. Before that she trained as a window dresser and set designer, working on fashion shows and art exhibitions, then worked as a location and banqueting manager, which is where she learned how venues and kitchens run.
She takes whole projects rather than single services: budget planning, venue search, timeline, supplier selection and coordination, the design of the event and direction on the day, with advice on the bridal and groom look as well. The studio has its own graphics section, led by Valentina, which produces the invitations, save the dates, seating plan, menus and place cards, and its own décor workshop, where the team designs, tests and builds the installations and works the flowers by hand. Mood boards and renderings show couples the finished scheme before the day. She does not use outside decorators or florists, and she will not repeat a scheme she has already built.
“My couples do not need to manage Italy. I do it for them.”
Glenda Marradi, founder
Her home ground is Tuscany: beach weddings in Versilia and Forte dei Marmi, villas and castles in the countryside, and the historic palazzi of Florence, which she has made a speciality of reopening for wedding receptions. She splits her working week between Massa and central Florence. Liguria is a second territory, from Palmaria and Porto Venere to Monterosso, Portofino, Camogli, Zoagli and Chiavari, and inland through the Lunigiana. Beyond those she plans weddings in Puglia, Sicily, Naples and the Amalfi Coast, Procida, Sardinia, Elba, Lake Como and Lake Garda.
She works with a team she calls Le Bimbe di Glenda, planners she has trained herself through a course that combines classroom teaching with work on real events. Within the team, some members look after Italian couples and others after international ones. She also plans micro weddings of roughly ten to thirty guests, and, with a travel designer partner, weddings abroad for Italian couples, including travel, accommodation, transfers and the paperwork to register the marriage in Italy. She has presented a television programme on TVR Teleitalia 7Gold and taught a wedding planning course at Confcommercio La Spezia.
