Wedding menus on the Amalfi Coast are built on fish and seafood, the coast’s protected lemon and its own wines, and who cooks them depends on the venue: an in-house kitchen at a hotel, a choice of caterers at a historic house, or a villa’s own restaurant. Settle that first, because it decides how much of the menu you can shape.
Who cooks at our venues
Hotel Raito, Vietri sul Mare
At Hotel Raito, chef Francesco Russo runs Il Golfo, the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, and also leads the banqueting for weddings, using Campanian produce. The hotel says its wedding menus keep to the Neapolitan wedding tradition while changing each year. Its wedding page lists extras including a raw fish selection, a sushi corner, an Amalfi corner and a cigar, rum and chocolate tasting, and the cake comes from its pastry chef.

Palazzo Suriano, Vietri sul Mare
Palazzo Suriano offers a choice of three local caterers it has selected, with refined, traditional Campanian and creative styles, and will consider your own chef. There is a wood-fired oven for Neapolitan pizza and bread, and a bar of whiskies, Campanian liqueurs, amari and grappas, with an open bar or a local wine tasting offered for the wedding. Its listing also names kosher catering and dry hire.
Villa La Rondinaia, Ravello
Villa La Rondinaia has its own restaurant, NEXST, led by executive chef Enrico Ruggiero, cooking with Campanian produce from local suppliers. The villa’s listing names in-house catering, and also private catering, kosher catering and dry hire. Wedding menus and prices are to confirm with the villa.
Lemons
The coast’s lemon is the sfusato amalfitano, a long, tapering fruit with a thick, fragrant skin, protected as Limone Costa d’Amalfi PGI. It turns up throughout a menu: in pasta and with fish, in the delizia al limone, a sponge dome filled and glazed with lemon cream, and cold after dinner as limoncello. Ask your caterer whether the lemons and the limoncello come from the protected area.
From the sea
Fish and seafood lead most wedding dinners here, and scialatielli, a short fresh pasta, served with shellfish, is the dish guests will recognise from the coast. From Cetara comes colatura di alici, an amber liquid from anchovies matured under salt, which has been a protected designation of origin since October 2020 (EU Regulation 2020/1529). A few drops dress a plate of spaghetti, and it makes a good course for guests who have not met it before.
Ask what the fish course will be in your month. A caterer who answers with the season’s catch rather than a fixed list is cooking from the local market.
The wines
The coast has its own denomination, Costa d’Amalfi DOC, with three sub-zones: Furore, Ravello and Tramonti. The whites are built on local grapes such as Falanghina and Biancolella; the reds on Piedirosso, known locally as Per’ e Palummo, and Aglianico. A tasting before the wedding is the easiest way to choose, and Palazzo Suriano offers a local wine tasting as part of the day.
Pastry and the table
The sfogliatella Santa Rosa, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta and semolina cream and topped with custard and black cherries, was first made at the convent of Santa Rosa in Conca dei Marini. It suits a morning-after breakfast or a dessert table.
The tables themselves can be local. Vietri sul Mare is the coast’s ceramics town: Hotel Raito’s Agrumeto terrace has wrought-iron tables with hand-painted Vietri ceramics, and Palazzo Suriano’s floors are laid with Vietri tiles and its tables with hand-painted plates.

Planning the menu
- Book the tasting for the season of your wedding, so the fish and fruit are the ones you will be served.
- Send dietary needs with the guest numbers, not after.
- Agree whether wine is charged by the bottle opened or included per head.
- Ask what time the kitchen stops serving, and plan a late-night snack, a pizza from a wood oven being the local answer.
