Short answers from what the venues have told us.
A masseria is a fortified farm estate, built in the medieval and early modern period to protect workers and livestock from coastal raids. The thick stone walls, enclosed courtyards and farm setting now suit weddings. Most premium masserie include exclusive use, accommodation, private ceremony and reception spaces and a resident team.
The Valle d'Itria is the inland valley between Bari and Brindisi, with trulli, dry-stone walls and the most masserie, and it is the heart of the wedding market. Salento is the southern peninsula, from Taranto to the heel, with Lecce as its main city. It is further from the airports and quieter, and suits couples who want a coastal setting or baroque Lecce.
For Valle d'Itria and Ostuni venues, Bari is the main gateway. For Salento and Lecce, Brindisi is closer. Many couples use both airports so that guests can arrive on different routes.
