Weddings in Tuscany
Tuscany is a landscape of timeless beauty, where Renaissance villas, medieval castles and historic country estates rise among rolling hills, cypress avenues, vineyards and ancient olive groves. From the celebrated wine country of Chianti to the sweeping landscapes of Val d'Orcia, the region offers an extraordinary variety of settings for a destination wedding in Italy.
Grand villas with elegant gardens, beautifully restored farm estates and secluded castles provide opportunities for intimate gatherings and magnificent celebrations. The historic cities of Florence and Siena bring another dimension, with architectural treasures, refined hospitality and centuries of artistic heritage. Whether overlooking a vineyard at sunset or celebrating within the walls of a centuries old estate, a wedding in Tuscany brings together Italian culture, exceptional cuisine and the enduring romance of the countryside.
Tuscany wedding venues
Where to marry in Tuscany
Tuscany's wedding venues sit mainly around Florence, in the Chianti hills towards Siena, and near Pisa and Lucca. Many are private villas or castle estates taken on exclusive use, with rooms for your guests on site; in Florence itself they are palazzo hotels on or near the Arno.

Make a weekend of Tuscany
Most guests travel for more than one day. The night before, the morning after and the days around the wedding are part of it: what to do, where to eat and how everyone gets around.

Short answers from what the venues have told us. The planning guide goes into more detail.
How much does a wedding in Tuscany cost?
Most Tuscan venues quote on request, because the price depends on the season, the day and how many guests stay. Where prices are published they cover different things: Relais La Costa publishes exclusive use of its eight suites from €2,800 a night in low season midweek, plus a €2,500 wedding fee; Castello di Casole publishes the hire of its spaces from €700 to €4,000, with food, drink and rooms quoted separately.
When is the best time to marry in Tuscany?
The season runs from April to October. Spring is mild and green, July and August are the hottest months, and September and October bring the grape harvest and softer light.
Which airport is nearest?
Florence (FLR) for the city and Chianti, Pisa (PSA) for Lucca, Pisa and the coast. Each venue page shows its own distances.
Can we have a legal ceremony at a villa?
Only where the local comune has approved the venue for civil ceremonies. Otherwise couples marry at the town hall and hold a symbolic ceremony at the villa.
Can our guests stay at the venue?
At most Tuscan venues, yes: every venue listed here has rooms, from a handful of suites to estates that sleep over a hundred. Each venue page shows how many it sleeps where the venue has told us.
What happens if it rains?
Ask each venue for its plan B before you book. Villa Il Cerretino's indoor rooms take up to 180 guests, I Granai at Valle di Badia seats 200, and Relais La Costa's Salone delle Feste is its plan B, at no extra charge, for up to 60.
Do we need a wedding planner?
It is not required. Hotels usually have an events team; for a private villa or a wedding over several days, most couples marrying from abroad work with a planner.
